This week we heard from Ron Holland who is the executive director of the Veteran's Transition Center in Marina, Calif. He told us how his department partners up with the VA to help the 1,600 homeless veterans in the area. We also heard Brian Lamar read the first day of the four-day hike from 11th Cavalry troops who hike all the way from Monterey to south Big Sur.

This week we heard from John Wagstaff, who is the public affairs officer for the National Training Center at Fort Irwin. John talked to us about NTC and what the importance of this training area is to the military in terms of preparing for war. We also heard from the Defense Language Institute's Sgt. Maj. David Ford, who talked about the upcoming Veterans Day ceremony that will be held on 10 Nov in the Berlin Wall memorial area.

This week we spoke to Robert Johnson the Energy Manager at the Directorate of Public Works for Fort Ord and the Presidio of Monterey. Mr. Johnson told us how the local military is adhering to President Obama's directive of saving energy and how the military plans to execute this executive order.

We also heard from SGM David Ford who told us about the first annual Vietnam History Day in Monterey, Calif.

Another guest was Dusan Tatomirovich (DLIFLC StratComm), who discussed his life growing up in Yugoslavia, moving to the U.S. under political asylum, and ending up locally as a Serbian-Croatian instructor.

Interviewed Paul Boczkowski, a Vietnam veteran helping to coordinate the first annual Monterey Vietnam Memorial Ceremony. A member of his platoon will be reissued a Congressional Medal of Honor during the ceremony (open to the public). Additionally, they also talked with Brian Hughes, an independent documentary-maker currently working on a documentary about the U.S. Army Chaplaincy for Al-Jazeera, and the controversy surrounding the topic.

This week we heard from Rudy Martinez, who is a stand-up comedian and Leonardo Buchemi who is a student in the Marine Corps Detachment and is a musician. The comedian did what he does best; tell jokes, while the musician played some of his original music.

This week we interviewed Gail McCabe, who works for Soldiers Radio and Television. She filled us in on how Soldiers stories get told to the public. We also spoke with Lt Col. Chris Belcher who works for the United States Army Recruiting Command. Chris works for the USAREC commander to help streamline its messaging.

This week we interviewed Capt Nathan Iglesias who talked about his experiences in Afghanistan training and working side-by-side with Afghan Intelligence officers. Things got a little tense when Nathan’s mom called and asked some tough questions on the air. Also, Jack Holt called in and spoke about the Department of Defense’s posture on social media and networking sites.

This week we heard from Lt. Col. Joel Young, who is a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School in the computer science department. We talked with Faheem Ahmady an Afghan citizen, who was an interpreter in Afghanistan for the U.S. forces and is currently in the U.S. on a special immigration visa. He shared his experiences touring the U.S. We also heard from Maj Rick Miller, who is the battalion executive officer for the 86th signal battalion in Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
